Contagion, the all-inclusive resource for infectious disease information, is proud to welcome the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists, (SIDP), as a strategic alliance partner sharing exclusive and timely information featured in both online and new print editions beginning in September.
PLAINSBORO, N.J. (August 30, 2016) — Contagion™, the all-inclusive resource for infectious disease information, is proud to welcome the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists, (SIDP), as a strategic alliance partner sharing exclusive and timely information featured in both online and new print editions beginning in September.
“This new alliance enhances Contagion’s goal to provide a 360-degree perspective to those on the front lines of infectious disease treatment and prevention,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president of the Plainsboro, N.J.-based Michael J. Hennessy Associates, Inc. (MJH) family of businesses that include Contagion. “Readers will now benefit from the expertise of specialists in infectious disease pharmacotherapy and antimicrobial stewardship.”
The partnership will result in numerous articles in the new print edition of Contagion and on www.contagionlive.com, a fully integrated print and digital news publication that provides health care practitioners and aligned professionals with timely information and resources to improve patient outcomes and positively impact the identification, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases.
The Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists, founded in 1990, is a professional association for pharmacists and allied health care professionals dedicated to promoting the appropriate use of antimicrobial agents and supporting practice, teaching and research in infectious diseases. Partnering with Contagion allows members to share important educational information with an audience beyond their own professional circles, said SIDP President Jason C. Gallagher, PharmD, FCCP, FIDSA, BCPS.
“By its very nature, infectious diseases constantly change as pathogens express resistance to currently available drugs and new pathogens emerge,” Gallagher noted. “This partnership allows the readership of Contagion to benefit from the expertise of SIDP members.”
The debut article, authored by Gallagher and Alexandra Hanretty, PharmD, focuses on the threat posed by overuse and misuse of antimicrobials without prescriptions.
“Adding the perspective of infectious disease pharmacists enhances the value of Contagion to this crucial field of medicine,” said Hennessy.
