“Let’s start with what MCA really is. Morphokinetic Cellular Analysis is an analytical method that includes digital microscopy to acquire images, as well as machine learning algorithms that analyze individual live cells and the microcolony that they grow into, under a variety of different conditions.
The technology tracks, analyzes, and interprets different morphology and kinetic information in order to get details such as mass, division rate, anomalous growth patterns, and even detect heterogeneity.
The technology is different in the detail that it provides versus some of the other technologies that we see in antibiotic susceptibility testing, such nephelometry, or some of the other mechanism-based methods."
