Michael J. Hennessy Associates’ premiere infectious disease publication, Contagion®, celebrates its second year this month amid celebrations of bringing in its highest readership traffic to-date.
“We’re proud of the success Contagion® has had over the past two years,” said Michael J. Hennessy Jr, president of Michael J. Hennessy Associates, parent company of Contagion® “We are thrilled to be one of the most recognized and trusted resources for infectious diseases and look forward to continuing our growth.”
Editor-in-chief, Jason Gallagher, PharmD is starting out his first full year of leading the publication and already, Contagion®’s February print edition (set to be published later this month) is primed to be its best issue yet, boasting even more expert-written content in the form of “In the Literature” articles which aim to serve as a leading source of concise, reliable summaries of new infectious diseases studies for the busy health care provider, as well as in-depth Case Studies from leading medical institutions.
Dr Gallagher has also set his sights on growing the Contagion® Editorial Advisory board, adding on 10 new members to the board in January 2018 from esteemed institutions such as the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to a consortium of experts from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, among others.

The Contagion® Outbreak Monitor, continues to serve as a source to help health care practitioners around the world identify occurrences of infectious diseases such as Salmonella and Hepatitis A on a local, regional, national, and international scale. The global Outbreak Monitor is now even more user-friendly. Users can manipulate the map to find out the latest information on outbreaks in their geographical region or areas they plan on traveling to. The new Map Key allows for users to easily find the outbreak they’re looking for and hone in on details specific to that outbreak.
This past year, the publication launched their first Peer Exchange® featuring a panel comprised of experts in the field who discussed many of the controversies surrounding Lyme Disease. The Peer Exchange® offers users a unique opportunity to view lively discussions among key opinion leaders in the field as they provide authoritative insights, opinions, and perspectives on important issues that today’s infectious disease professionals face. Additional Peer Exchanges will be filmed this year, including one on multidrug-resistant infections in the intensive care unit set to launch later this month!
