Interview transcript (modified slightly for readability):
Dr. del Rio: "I love how infectious disease is a team sport. Having in my team a pharmacist, going to the microlab and working with the pathologist, and the microbiologist, it really is what I love about my specialty—it's not just us the doctors that know it all doing the job. It's really us the team and how each one contributes to improving patient care and outcomes. And I find that part of infectious disease really gratifying and satisfying. So get to know your ID pharmacist, get to know your microbiologist, and work with them because you'll be a much better consultant if you do that."
