This week, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) held their annual conference virtually from Sunday through Wednesday.

The conference saw many important issues discussed and research presented, dealing with antibiotic stewardship, prevention, emerging infection surveillance and other critical topics in the fields of infection control and epidemiology.

To gain a broader understanding of the association as a whole, Contagion sat down with Devin Jopp, EdD, MS, who is the CEO of APIC.

In the interview, we discussed the basic mission of APIC, the role they played during the COVID-19 pandemic, how the conference is important in the current climate, what the association adds to the field of infection control and what the future looks like.
